Burn Permits:
Non-Standard Applications
It
is mandatory to obtain a valid burn permit for all open outdoor burning for the purpose of disposing dried, natural vegetation grown on site. AQMD permits are not
required for small recreational or ceremonial campfires. A non-standard burn permit allows individuals, businesses, or government agencies to dispose of approved
materials by open burning. When a non-standard permit is issued for larger projects, a smoke managment plan may be required. Most non-standard permits require the
responsible party to obtain a burn authorization number prior to ignition. Burning is authorized from 6:00 AM until one hour before dusk on permissive burn days. Call
800.BURNDAY (866.287.6329) or check our website for burn day status.
Permit
applications can be retrieved (not issued) through participating local fire protection agencies and CDF fire stations. There are a couple of ways to obtain a valid burn
permit. District staff is available Monday- Friday from 9:00a.m.-12:00 and from 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. to issue burn permits at our District office 2300 Myrtle Avenue,
Eureka, CA 95501 or by downloading the application and mailing your application along with a check or money order to the NCUAQMD.
As
a part of the District Outreach Program, staff participated in the US Forest Service sponsored 2008 Burn Boss Refresher Event. Permitting Planning Division
