The North Coast Unified Air Quality Management District is dedicated to protecting human health and the environment from the harmful effects of air pollution.
PROGRAMS
The AQMD staff manage several different programs; all of which have the common goal - the reduction of air pollution. The major program areas are listed below.
Open Burning - The outdoor burning of material for educational purposes or for waste disposal.
Grants and Incentive Programs - Awards for air emission reduction projects at stationary sources and for mobile sources.
Air Monitoring - Ambient air sample collection and analysis to determine pollutant concentrations.
Emission Inventory - Data collection, analysis, emission reduction strategy, and rule making.
NESHAP - National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants, the control of Asbestos during the renovation and demolition of buildings and structures.
Naturally Occurring Asbestos - Control of naturally occurring asbestos during construction, surfacing, grading, mining, and quarrying operations.
Stationary Source Permitting - Engineering evaluation of air pollution control equipment, processes, and techniques.
